After working together for many years in various contexts, Monica Danielson and Per Sjögren formed Duo Ego in 2001. This acclaimed and award-winning duo regularly performs in Sweden and around the world and has been called one of the most interesting ensembles in the contemporary music scene.
When they were awarded the Carin Malmlöf-Forssling Prize by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 2013, the citation read: “Courage and relentless work characterize this freelance duo in developing their ensemble form, with an emphasis on new commissions from Swedish and international composers. Gala concert at a contemporary music festival in Tatarstan – as Sweden’s representative for new music – or choral workshop at Kulturens hus in Luleå: Duo Ego’s approach is curious and unpredictable.”
Monica Danielson is one of the country’s foremost interpreters of contemporary vocal music. She has premiered over 50 Swedish concert and opera works, including with her opera company MusikTeaterVerket and with Duo Ego.
Per Sjögren is an active performer primarily in contemporary art music. He is the initiator of the acclaimed ensembles Gageego! and Spectra. Together with these, as well as with other groups such as KammarensembleN and Curious Chamber Players, he has toured countries such as South Africa, the USA, and Germany. Among other performances, he has played at the Festival for New Music in Darmstadt.
Frontside has existed since 2019 and is largely driven by volunteer efforts, but we are highly dependent on additional financial sponsors and fundings. All contributions are used to engage fantastic musicians, rents of venues and all other things that make the festival a magical experience.

Our membership register contains information about names and addresses, in some cases also phone numbers and/or email addresses. The register is used only for sending out membership information. The association will not sell or otherwise share personal information with any other party. Upon leaving the association, the information will be deleted and will only remain in the records that we are required to keep for seven years according to accounting laws.
