Karlsson Barock is based in Gothenburg and consists of about fifteen musicians with a passion for early music. Together, they share a love for baroque music and perform orchestral pieces from the European musical treasury of the 17th and 18th centuries on period instruments.
Since their first concert in 2009, the orchestra has established an extensive concert schedule in Gothenburg, hosting their own concert series and performing as guests in various venues.
Karlsson Barock participates in several exciting projects that focus on the intersection of baroque music and other art forms. This has led the orchestra and its audience to explore new concert venues, ranging from churches and art galleries to studios and forges. Additionally, Karlsson Barock is committed to educational projects where young musicians have the opportunity to meet orchestra members and try playing early music on authentic instruments. They also run the youth baroque orchestra Kompani 415, offering young musicians the chance to delve deeper into early music.
With their inspired and playful interpretations of both well-known and lesser-known works, Karlsson Barock has cultivated a dedicated audience who return concert after concert to experience the music come to life!
Frontside has existed since 2019 and is largely driven by volunteer efforts, but we are highly dependent on additional financial sponsors and fundings. All contributions are used to engage fantastic musicians, rents of venues and all other things that make the festival a magical experience.
