Uxía Martínez Botana, renowned as one of the world’s foremost bassists, has impressed international critics with her intensity and exceptional technique.

She began her professional career at the age of 16 with the Galicia Symphony Orchestra in Spain and has since performed with several prominent ensembles worldwide, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Budapest Festival Orchestra. Currently, she serves as the principal double bassist in the Weinberger Chamber Orchestra and is also active as a teacher at the ESMUC College of Music of Catalonia and the Barenboim-Said Academy.

Uxía has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician at numerous prestigious events and festivals across Europe, earning acclaim for her performances of both classical and modern music. She has also participated in recordings of soundtracks for several films, and her passion for film music has led to collaborations with the Dutch Film Festival.

As the founder of the Rubik Ensemble, Uxía has collaborated with other international soloists to create outstanding musical experiences. Additionally, she is a sponsored artist of The National Dutch Musical Instrument Foundation and plays several historical instruments, including the famous “English Lady” from the 19th century.

Uxía Martínez Botana continues to be a leading bassist and prominent figure in both the classical music world and the film industry.
