Anders Jonhäll

Fluite

Anders Jonhäll was born in Kristianstad in southern Sweden. After completing his diploma at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, he joined the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, where he served as Principal Flute from 1992 to 2019. Since 2009, he has been Principal Flute of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Jonhäll is a co-founder of Gageego!, the Gothenburg-based ensemble for contemporary music, and has been a driving force in the ensemble since its foundation in 1995. His long-standing commitment to contemporary music has led to close collaborations with composers and numerous performances and premieres of new works. In 2001, he gave the world premiere of Per Mårtensson’s Flute Concerto with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Hans Graf, and in 2013 he performed Kaija Saariaho’s NoaNoa at the Polar Music Prize concert.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Jonhäll has appeared with a wide range of orchestras and ensembles. His discography includes Nielsen’s Flute Concerto, two flute concertos by Mieczysław Weinberg, and Flauto con forza, featuring Swedish concertos and chamber music by Arne Mellnäs, Per Mårtensson and André Chini.

Jonhäll has also taught flute at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg.
