János Alexander Madaras is a Hungarian cellist, conductor and music educator with a strong passion for performance, teaching and creating social impact through the arts. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and the University of Gothenburg, and holds a Master’s degree in classical cello, music education and orchestral performance.
Since 2023, he has worked with Dream Orchestra as a cello teacher, section leader and orchestral instructor across the organisation’s three programmes in Gothenburg: central Gothenburg, Lövgärdet and Biskopsgården. His work includes leading and coaching young musicians from a wide range of backgrounds, including refugees and unaccompanied minors, providing both musical and personal guidance to foster development, confidence and creativity. At Frontside Festival, János will conduct Dream Orchestra.
His educational work also extends to community schools in Tynnered and Gårdsten, where he leads ensemble and orchestral projects for children and young people, integrating music theory and string training according to Dream Orchestra’s educational model.
With more than a decade of international experience, János combines artistic excellence, empathetic teaching and a strong sense of community, both in the classroom and on stage. As a cellist, he has held leading positions in several symphony orchestras, including the Szolnok Symphony Orchestra and the Danube Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, the European Philharmonic of Switzerland and the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
He is also an experienced studio musician and has recorded with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra and East Connection Music for a wide range of international productions.
