Tomas von Brömssen is one of Sweden’s best-loved actors, with a career spanning more than five decades in theatre, film and television. Born in Gothenburg and trained at the Malmö Academy of Theatre, he has maintained a close connection with his home city, notably through his work at Folkteatern and Gothenburg City Theatre.
His repertoire ranges from comedy and musical revue to major dramatic roles, including Ibsen’s Peer Gynt. Television audiences know him from Albert & Herbert and Saltön, while his film credits include My Life as a Dog and Bo Widerberg’s All Things Fair, for which he received the Guldbagge Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1995.
Music is also a recurring thread in his work. A clarinettist as well as an actor, he brings musicality and a distinctive sense of timing to his performances. His stage work includes Patrick Süskind’s The Double Bass, directed by Eva Bergman at Gothenburg City Theatre.
At Frontside 2027 – Below the Surface – Tomas joins several festival concerts with readings and storytelling, bringing the spoken word into dialogue with chamber music.
