Björn Linnman is a Swedish composer, musician and actor whose career brings together music, theatre and storytelling. His work spans concert music, opera and television, alongside stage performance and music education.
His involvement in theatre includes appearing as a musician in Suzanne Osten’s production of En ren flicka at Stockholm City Theatre. As a composer, he has written the children’s opera Grabbhalvan and the large-scale staged work Det stora världsägget, first performed in 1998 by Västerås Sinfonietta, choir and soloists, with Maria af Malmborg as narrator. He also composed the music for Swedish Television’s popular 1989 Christmas series featuring the detective Ture Sventon.
Alongside his creative work, Linnman has been involved in teaching and collaborative music theatre projects. At Mälardalen University, he helped students develop the family opera Inis, exploring the relationship between text, music and dramatic expression.
At Frontside 2027 – Below the Surface – his new work Slapstick moves for Clarinet and Piano receives its world premiere with clarinettist Karin Dornbusch and pianist Lora Tchekoratova at the late-evening concert on Saturday 16 January.
