Malin Bång is a Swedish composer based in Gothenburg whose music explores movement, energy and the physical nature of sound. Combining traditional instruments with everyday objects and electronics, she creates sound worlds that range from delicate, barely audible textures to powerful bursts of activity. Her work encompasses chamber and orchestral music, music theatre and instrumental performance pieces.
A founding member and composer-in-residence of Curious Chamber Players, Bång works closely with musicians to explore new possibilities of sound and performance. Her music has been performed internationally by ensembles including Klangforum Wien and Ensemble Recherche, and at festivals such as Donaueschingen, Huddersfield and Ultraschall.
Her distinctions include the Kranichsteiner Stipendienpreis, the Donaueschingen Orchestra Prize and the Christ Johnson Prize. Since 2018, she has taught composition as Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg.
